Exchange Japanese Yen Banknotes
The Japanese Yen is the national currency of Japan. Among the five most traded currencies in the world the JPY ranks third after the US dollar and Euro. It was in 1871 when the Yen was adopted as the national currency of Japan. The JPY banknotes were first minted and issued in 1872. As history shows the yen has been issued in denominations of 10 yen to 10000 yen. World War II was an interesting period for the Japanese yen. The Imperial Japanese Bank and the Ministry of Finance issued their own variations of the JPY banknote.
However, after the war the Bank of Japan were the only bank to issue and circulate the Japanese Yen and so far they have issued five series of banknotes with the current series being series E. This series has denominations of ¥1000, ¥2000, ¥5000, and ¥10,000. A redesign of banknotes was announced in 2002, with new people featuring on the 1,000 and 5,000 yen notes. This redesign is issued with the latest anti-counterfeiting techniques implemented. In November, 2004 the new design banknotes were minted and issued.
